Love Inspired Suspense is on the hunt for inspirational romantic suspense stories of 55,000 words!

First, get to know all about Love Inspired Suspense with editor Tina James:

With the Great Love Inspired Author Search blitz returning, we decided this was a terrific time to share what stories we’re most excited to see when you pitch us your story.

To help get you started, here’s what is currently at the top of our Love Inspired Suspense wish list…

  • Action-packed stories where the hero and heroine feel constantly threatened and must work together to overcome the danger.
  • High tension and intense situations where the characters’ lives are in direct danger from the very beginning of the story.
  • Gripping suspense plots that get equal play with the emotionally compelling romance.

Our most popular Love Inspired Suspense hooks are:

  • Protecting babies/children in danger
  • Cold case
  • Kidnappings
  • Witness protection
  • Undercover law enforcement heroes or heroines
  • Hidden or mistaken or fake or stolen identities
  • Amish
  • Working dogs

Hooks we’d love to see more of:

  • Western settings
  • Cowboys/rancher heroes
  • Evocative outdoor settings (ex. stories set in Alaska, deserts, wilderness, mountains)
  • Stories with multiple hooks.

We’re always on the lookout for how a classic theme can feel different. Can you put your own spin on a popular trope, transforming it into something fresh and eye catching?

A key thing to note about Love Inspired Suspense is that these are not cozy mysteries or who-dun-its. Although the characters may be trying to solve a mystery, they need to be in danger—from a villain, not just nature or circumstances—and the danger should be present from the very beginning. And the hero and heroine should meet in chapter one and remain in each other’s presence throughout the vast majority of the book—they should be falling in love while they’re running for their lives!

We hope this helps bring some clarity and direction to your Love Inspired Suspense story. We’re looking forward to reading your submissions! Check out the full writing guidelines for Love Inspired Suspense here.
