Love Inspired is searching for inspirational contemporary romance stories of 55,000 words!

First, get to know Love Inspired with editor Melissa Endlich:

With the Great Love Inspired Author Search blitz returning, we decided this was the perfect time to share what stories we’re most excited to see when you pitch us your story.

To help get you started, here’s what is currently at the top of our Love Inspired wish list…

  • Heartwarming contemporary romances set in small towns in the US and Canada
  • Relatable Christian characters. No glitz, glamour, billionaires or entertainment industry. Just regular people living everyday lives.
  • A faith element that feels organic and natural to the story, and is non-denominational.

Our most popular Love Inspired hooks are:

  • Amish
  • Dogs (service/therapy animals)
  • Cowboys/rancher heroes
  • Single moms/dads
  • Babies/children

Hooks we’d love to see more of:

  • Western settings (including Alaska)
  • “Secret” stories: secret child, secret identity, secret past, etc.
  • Older heroes/heroines (40+)
  • Holiday stories (Easter/Mother’s Day/Christmas)
  • Stories with multiple hooks

We’re always on the lookout for how a classic theme can feel different. Can you put your own spin on a popular trope, transforming it into something fresh and eye catching?

A key thing to note about Love Inspired is that because our books are short, the hero and heroine should meet in chapter one. And they should be in each other’s presence for the vast majority of the book, in order to build the romance between them.

Also, we’d love to see the book’s community come to life! Feel free to populate your small towns with notable secondary characters, from the sassy diner owner to the man who runs the local grocery store to the single mom who just opened a coffee shop.

We hope this helps bring some clarity and direction to your Love Inspired story. We’re looking forward to reading your submissions! Check out the full writing guidelines for Love Inspired here.
