And along the way she’s acquired, developed and celebrated with a number of debut and established authors! She originally did this Q&A on the Harlequin Community Forums.

What most distinguishes your from the other lines (especially lines that may be similar to yours)?
Desire features passionate and provocative romances with strong, but emotionally vulnerable, alpha heroes in wealthy settings. Every Desire is filled with drama–whether from a marriage of convenience, an unplanned pregnancy, someone seeking revenge, or from the dramatic internal emotions of the hero and heroine. Our readers love classic themes, like secret babies and cowboys, but used in a fresh, very emotional way.
If your line was a TV series, which one would it be?
Dallas! Or any good, juicy soap opera filled with scandal…
What does your typical day look like?
It is filled with email. Beyond that, there are strategy and art meetings, staff meetings, author questions and calls, and, of course, editing and reading books.
What’s the most recent book you’ve read for pleasure?
I’ve been loading up my Kindle for vacation, and I’m really looking forward to reading The Returned by Jason Mott and Real by Katy Evans.
Why did you become an editor?
I’ve always loved to read, and when I was younger I tried my hand at freelance writing. These two interests led to my first post-college job in customer service at a small Florida publisher, where I did everything except edit! After editorial-heavy jobs in PR and with an online magazine, I realized how much I actually liked editing. That’s when I decided to spend my time on what I most liked to read: romance. I’ve been at Harlequin ever since.
Do you have any hobbies?
I just started jogging, which is very relaxing, and I do a lot of volunteering at my son’s school and at my community garden. I have a blog about ADHD and language disorders that I update very sporadically, and I love to spend time outside at the beach, in the park and at the playground with my son.
What type of character/plot are you DYING to see?
I love when a writer uses traditional romance plots like secret babies or unplanned pregnancies in a unique way. What Lies Beneath by Andrea Laurence is a great example of this kind of twist. It’s a very different kind of amnesia story!
