After a few (relatively) slow months, the Harlequin series editors were contracting many books in October! 181 individual titles were acquired for the various lines. Yep, 181!
The most acquisitive lines were Harlequin Presents—with 25 contracted titles!—Harlequin Intrigue with 21, Harlequin Romantic Suspense with 19 and Harlequin Superromance with 18 titles. Between 1-15 books were contracted by the other lines.
Overall we had 35 editors reading and contracting titles, with Patience Bloom signing up 26 (for Romantic Suspense, Historical, Nocturne, Special Edition and an anthology—she’s widely read!), Pippa Roscoe at 19 (for Presents and Internet projects) and Flo Nicoll at 14 (for Presents, Romance and Historical).
Happily for Presents readers, Lynne Graham will have another 15 titles to write in the next few years! And Carla Cassidy will have 12 more Romantic Suspense titles coming out. Janice Kay Johnson has ten Superromance titles to deliver, and our other authors have between 1-8 titles sold.
Can you believe it’s been nearly twenty years since the first Montana Mavericks continuity? We can’t—though we can remember coming up with characters and plots. J It’s been fantastic to see the different iterations over the years. To celebrate, Special Edition is doing a new twentieth anniversary “Montana Mavericks: Back in the Saddle” continuity with Christine Rimmer (a favorite here—she did a post a few weeks ago!), Teresa Southwick, Leanne Banks, Christyne Butler, Brenda Harlen and Rachel Lee contributing stories.
It’s also great to see that Amber McKenzie—who came in second in last year’s SYTYCW contest–sold another two titles to Medicals!
As for new to Harlequin authors, the Love Inspired Historical group did a two-book contract with DeWanna Pace and Heartwarming acquired one book from Linda Hope Lee.
